Self Talk has also been referred to as our mindset, attitudes, internal dialogue, inner belief systems or the “automatic mind chatter” that goes on continually … while we’re awake, daydreaming or sleeping. Self Talk has been shown to contribute to our stress management, our emotional health, our physical well-being and our overall performance on the job.

The technology of Self Talk has been researched and applied in the fields of business, sports, performance and success psychology, medicine, entertainment and brain research. This half-day workshop will orient you to the power of your thoughts, raise awareness of your Self Talk habits and provide eight practical strategies for altering your mental environment so that you are positioned for more positive attitudes and better performance outcomes.

The course uses high energy presentations, fun awareness and discussion activities, and humor to deliver the insights and new mental skills.

  • General Self-Motivation Tactics – While the majority of the mini-workshop teaches the “Inner Game of Motivation” through Self Talk Skills, we do prompt participants to complete a self-audit of how they motivate themselves to get out of a rut, stay pumped up, or overcome tough times by reviewing classic Self-Motivation aids.
  • Definition of Self Talk – The automatic internal dialogue we all have is positioned as capable of being controlled, borrowing from the fields of sports psychology, sales training, and brain research.
  • Dynamics of Self Talk – The powerful, automatic self-programming nature of Self Talk is illustrated. The Self Talk Cycle is described, showing how thoughts and beliefs influence emotions, leading to changes in actions, and ultimately impacting results.
  • How to Change Your Self Talk – Your trainer gives a simple ABCD formula for altering counterproductive attitudes: Awareness, Belief in Change, Choosing Specific Strategies, and Doing It Through Practice.
  • Eight Self Talk Strategies – This program shows how the stressful world of business and selling demands practical techniques that can be used real time in the field. The workshop uses sales, humor, sports, and history to teach long-range strategies and a Self Talk First Aid Kit for in-the-moment adjustments to mental “trash talking”.
  • The Accountability Mindset – This subset of Self Talk involves helping people to realize whether they are adopting a victim and blame-oriented mentality that drains time, energy, and performance. Through a high-energy talk, pairs discussion, and group activity, participants discover the research-proven benefits of altering their attitude when they encounter adversity and workplace obstacles.
