Most women who I come in contact with want to lose fat. This is especially true of the ladies who are over the age of 40. Yet many of them tell me that they don’t know exactly what to do to lose the fat or they feel as though their body is just not working with them on the mission to make it happen. Well, I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t matter what age you are, because you can absolutely lose fat!
Whether you are over 40, 50, or 60, there is hope for you yet because everyone can lose fat. Nobody said it’s going to be easy though, because no matter what age you are you will still have to get off the couch and get engaged in making that fat loss happen. If you are over 40, 50, or 60 and you want to lose fat, then you have to get honest with yourself.
That’s right, I said it. Get honest with yourself!
This blog post is a rant about being true to your results and to your goals. Are you going to Starbucks and ordering a big latte and a muffin and then on Monday wondering why your measurements are not working in your favor? Are you wolfing down bowls of chips every evening as you watch television and then stepping on the scale in the morning only to be disappointed with what it says back? Enough is enough!
It’s time to get real, get honest, and get committed about doing something to lose fat. You can’t just keep hoping and wishing you will wake up one morning and you will have lost fat. You have to look at what you are doing that is contributing to the fat gain and maintenance, and you have to do something about it.
In order to lose that fat, you will have to make the commitment to do 3-5 hours of exercise per week, follow a good meal plan, and eliminate all of those free foods you have been consuming. In other words, cut the chips, soda, high-calorie Starbucks drinks and snacks, and other junk food.
Are you getting professional assistance to achieve your fat loss goals? If not, then it’s time to get honest with that, too. Studies have shown that people who have a fitness coach or someone holding them accountable will be better able to reach their goals sooner. If you have no coach or someone holding you accountable, it is a lot easier to keep lying to yourself about the commitment and effort you are putting in to lose the fat. That all stops when you begin working with someone who will be there to hold you accountable.
Make sure you are doing your cardio, strength training, and eating healthy. Those are the keys to losing fat, getting fit, and loving what you see in the mirror. Check in weekly on your progress and on the actions taken to ensure you are making positive behavior changes. If you slip up, get back on course right away, don’t dig yourself a bigger hole and throw in the towel. You can lose fat after 40, 50, and 60, you just have to make it happen!
