Have you ever pressure yourself up against the glass in a bakery and sincerely wished that you could stuff down those delicious sugary doughnuts without putting on an ounce of weight? Well, you are not alone, and even those of us that have the strongest willpower can sometimes fail. However, something that can help you stick to your diet and exercise plans, and achieve your goals no matter what you are going through is having the right motivation, and this is something you can read more about in my post below.

Relevant to your life

For any motivating factor to work, the most important thing is that is must be relevant to your life. That is the thing that you are using to power your healthy and dietary plans must mean something to you. Therefore if you are using ‘getting skinny’ as a goal, but you’re not too bothered about looks it is a lousy fit and won’t keep you pushing through the tough times.

To that end, you need to examine why you want to improve your diet and health honestly. Maybe it’s so you can run around with your kids, or nieces and nephews without getting out of breath? Maybe it’s so you can shop in the normal size range in store, or maybe it’s to help relieve a condition? The important thing here is to find the one thing that sings to you, and then you will be on the right track.

Effective for you

Another way that you can help to achieve your health and fitness goals is to consider how you are motivated. For some folks it all about them making an effort to do their food prep and exercise by themselves.

Others, however, find it much easier to team up with a friend or even a professional coaching service like to get them in the right frame of mind. After all,  if you already know what to do concerning health and exercise but struggle to do it alone, having someone else that will hold you responsible can be the push you need to hit your targets.

Forgive

Believe it or not, forgiveness is a major part of staying motivated on your fitness and health journey. Do you know why? Well, it is because we are human, and at some point, we are going to eat something that wasn’t on our plan or miss a workout session. That is OK though because how you get over that bump in the road is to acknowledge that it happened, forgive it, and commit to not dwelling on it.

This way of doing things is so important because and the ability to move on it’s far too easy to get in shame spiral that causes more bad health choices and interferes with your workout. Therefore to maintain motivation for your health and diet goals in the long term you will need to learn to offer yourself some compassion and forgiveness from time to time.
